TAMA-Edward Russell Quigley, 81, of Tama, and a current resident of Sunnycrest Nursing Center in Dysart passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton. A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, May 19, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama with Rev. LaVern Seth officiating. Friends may call at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama Friday, May 18, 2012 from 3-5 PM and on Saturday, May 19, 2012 from 10 AM until the time of the Graveside Service. Edward was born on May 23, 1930, in Tama, Iowa, the son of William W. and Ada L. (Suthers) Quigley. He attended Tama schools and was then employed by his mother in the restaurant business, working at the Hilltop Café and Lantern Café in downtown Tama until 1973. Edward was made an honorary volunteer fire fighter from the Tama Fire Department. He also participated in the Special Olympics. Preceding him in death were his parents; and one brother, William James Quigley; Survivors include one sister, Frances (Donald) Parker of Malcom; one niece, Jackie Skala of Tama; and several cousins and other relatives. A memorial fund has been established.
